Daily Technical Analysis of Gold/US Dollar (XAU/USD)

Gold prices continued their recovery during yesterday’s trading, recording strong gains of nearly 2%. This signals the precious yellow metal’s ongoing ability to attract buyers above the psychological level of $4,000 per ounce, despite pressures stemming from the rally in the US dollar and rising Treasury yields. According to trading platforms, prices are stabilizing around $4,082 per ounce at the time of writing.

Overall, the current price action reflects a balance between technical factors supporting Gold and fundamental factors capping its gains. Safe-haven demand continues to provide a floor for prices, while investors continue to reassess US monetary policy expectations.

Despite Gold's recent recovery, prices remain approximately 6% below their year-to-date levels following a broad corrective wave that succeeded the historical highs reached earlier by the metal.

In contrast, silver prices posted stronger performance, rising to approach the $59 per ounce mark. The white metal continues to attempt a recovery of the psychological $60 threshold, although it still trades below its previous peaks recorded in recent months.

Despite the positive performance of precious metals, the macroeconomic environment continues to lean toward supporting the US dollar. The US Dollar Index (DXY) rose to the resistance level of 101.19—its highest point in nearly a year—backed by sustained strength in US economic data and rising expectations that interest rates will remain higher for longer.

Furthermore, US Treasury yields continued their upward trajectory. The 10-year yield stabilized near 4.63%, while the 2-year yield reached approximately 4.26%, and the 30-year yield breached the 5.13% level.

Historically, a simultaneous rise in both the dollar and yields exerts pressure on Gold, as it increases the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding assets. However, the metal’s resilience above $4,000 indicates persistent investment demand, particularly amid escalating concerns regarding the US fiscal outlook and uncertainty surrounding the future path of monetary policy.

Futures market pricing indicates that investors still assign a high probability to an interest rate hike at the Federal Reserve’s September meeting. This keeps Gold price movements sensitive to any shifts in monetary policy expectations or upcoming US economic data.

Today’s Gold Technical Levels

According to the technical outlook for Gold, holding trades above the $4,000 per ounce level remains a positive factor supporting the continuation of the short-term bullish trend. Conversely, breaking above the $4,085–$4,100 resistance levels could open the door toward targeting new highs. On the other hand, a breach below the $4,000 level could intensify selling pressure and retest subsequent support levels, particularly if the US dollar and bond yields continue to advance.

On the daily timeframe, Gold's broader trend remains bearish despite recent gains. This is confirmed by technical indicator readings: the 14-day Relative Strength Index (RSI) remains below the neutral line near a reading of 46. At the same time, the MACD indicator reflects weak bullish momentum despite the improvement in price action. Additionally, short- and medium-term moving averages continue to indicate that the overall trend remains under sellers' control.

Trading Advice:

Risk appetite, developments in the Middle East, and US dollar movements are likely to impact Gold trading conditions. These factors could contribute to heightened volatility. Therefore, it is advisable to adhere strictly to risk management practices and utilize stop-loss orders, while avoiding over-leverage during periods of high volatility.
