Market Sentiment Analysis

AI is leading the way again, boosted after Marvell Technology’s (NASDAQ:MRVL) inclusion into the S&P 500 and OpenAI’s announcement that it has taken the first step towards its IPO. Inflationary pressures continue amid the war in Iran, while the SpaceX IPO is oversubscribed, with $150 billion in orders for $75 billion in shares, and worries over a potential market top have increased because of the blockbuster listing.

Quest Diagnostics Fundamental Analysis

Quest Diagnostics is a clinical laboratory that offers diagnostic testing services for cancer, cardiovascular disease, infectious disease, neurological disorders, COVID-19, and employment and court-ordered drug testing.

So, why am I bearish on DGX despite its recent uptrend?

The potential for higher interest rates for longer is cutting into free cash flow as day-to-day expenses are surging at Quest Diagnostics, resulting in a sharp drop in operating margins. DGX refinanced $500 million in debt with a coupon rate of 3.45% for a new batch of senior notes due in 2036 with a coupon rate of 5.00%. Quest Diagnostics also reports declining earnings per share despite revenue growth, another red flag.
