DailyForex Blog Reviews: Forex Initiate

As part of our blog review program, we will be reviewing a Forex blog that is quite different than the previous blogs we reviewed, ForexInitiate.
Forex Initiate
Forex Initiate is run and maintained by Donald Oglive, who says he does not consider himself a professional trader, but based on his content, is more of a Forex expert than lots of traders who consider themselves and are widely regarded as professionals. Here is the interview I conducted with Donald:
1: Please tell us a little bit about yourself including your name, your profession, and your location.
"My name is Donald Ogilve. I am 28 years old. I live in New Jersey, though I am not here much because I work as a developer for a consulting company. That's part of the reason Forex Trading is so interesting to me...I am always on the move".
2: How long have you been involved in the Forex market?
"I have been doing it since 2005. I learned by myself. Back then, I thought I could program my own formula and make millions very quickly. I'm still working on that system, but I trade more on fundamentals these days".
3: How long have you been blogging?
"My blog has been up since January 2009. I make posts at least once a week...more often when I have something useful".
4: Who is your primary audience?
"Forex Traders, primarily those who are new to it, or are still learning the ropes".
5: Why should someone read your blog?
"I try to cover relevant issues, as well as other items that may not be immediately obvious as factors that might affect the markets. Since I don't post too often, I try to ensure that the information in there is suitable for a longer period of time. In fact, some of my posts are basically articles, rather than just Forex updates. My style is also conversational and easy to understand. I try to keep it simple...even humorous, where possible".
6: In your opinion, what are the main advantages of the Forex market?
"It's easy to get into. There's a vast amount of information readily available to help you. Forums, Blogs, Free software, Demo Trading. There's a training ground available for free, as long as you are willing to put in the work to understand the fundamentals. You can start really small as well. Best of all, you can do it all from anywhere you want, as long as you have access to the internet".
Conclusion: Forex Initiate is relatively new and so it is not packed with content, but if you are a believer that it is about quality and not quantity, you will enjoy Forex Initiate.
Advantages: Clear and well written content on all Forex topics, can easily function as a guide to new traders, content is written in a style that makes Forex seem fun.
Disadvantages: No in depth market analysis similar to the previous blogs we reviewed, not updated as frequently as other blogs, the site has a lot going on with many possible distractions from the actual content.
Final words: Forex Initiate is a blog worth reading. Although, its primary audience is beginner traders, anyone can benefit from the articles that are mostly general Forex topics and not analysis of a specific day or week. As Donald said, this is a part time gig, and therefore the blog is updated once a week and not daily. That fact along with the relatively young age of the blog contributes to the small amount of content on the site. As I said earlier, with the high level of writing along with Donald's expertise, given some time, this blog can become a must read for every Forex trader.
